Tiswadi Mamlatdar Announces Fresh Vehicle Auction to Recover ₹44.56 Lakh

PANAJI: The Tiswadi Mamlatdar’s office has announced a fresh auction of two seized vehicles on October 7 to recover ₹44.56 lakh in outstanding dues linked to an alleged embezzlement case involving the Morombi O Grande Tenant Association, Merces.

The recovery proceedings stem from a Bombay High Court at Goa order dated October 11, 2023, in Writ Petition No. 352 of 2023. The court had directed recovery of ₹59.22 lakh, allegedly misappropriated by members of the association’s managing committee during their tenure.

Officials said ₹14.66 lakh has already been recovered towards government dues, leaving ₹44,56,368 to be recovered from defaulters Nicolau J. C. Monteiro and Nicolau Nunes, both from Merces.

According to a Form 6 proclamation issued by Tiswadi Mamlatdar and Revenue Recovery Officer Dattaprasad Toraskar, two earlier auction dates—August 19 and September 9—did not proceed as no bidders came forward.

The vehicles will now be auctioned on an “as is, where is” basis. The assets include:

  • Maruti Wagon R (LX) — upset price: ₹1.40 lakh

  • Honda Activa scooter — upset price: ₹20,000

The auction will take place at 3.30 pm on October 7 at the Mamlatdar’s Office, Collectorate Building, Panaji.

Prospective bidders must submit valid KYC documents and deposit an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of ₹10,000 by the day before the auction. The successful bidder will be required to pay 25% of the bid amount immediately, with the balance payable within the stipulated period.

All vehicle transfer charges, RTO taxes and applicable penalties will have to be borne by the successful purchaser.
