Adv Carlos congratulates Vishant Chodankar, Goa Police Head constable for successfully completing border run in RajasthanALDONA: Aldona Congress MLA Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira on Wednesday congratulated Goa Police Head constable Vishant Chodankar for successfully completing the 100 km long border run that was recently held in Jaisalmer Rajasthan, thereby bringing pride to the State.“Our Vishant Chodankar from Halarn vaddo Ecoxim. He had gone to Jaisalmer Rajasthan to participate in the 100 km border run. The run needs to be completed in 16 hours. Beginning from Jaisalmer and from there you have to run towards the border,” Adv Carlos said.“Commencing this journey from Jaisalmer, I have read about the route which passes through villages, windmill areas, and moving into barren desert land, testing the strength, endurance and resilience of each runner. And this 100 Kms run needs to be completed in 16 hours ending up at the India-Pakistan border at Laungewala in the Thar desert,” he said.Speaking after being felicitated by Adv Ferreira, Chodankar said he hopes to complete the 100 miler, a 161 kilometre race that is considered the most difficult.“I have been preparing for the last six years participating in marathons, full marathons, Bombay, Pune, etc. 100 miler is the most difficult race. If you have the determination. With your blessings I will attempt the 100 miler next year,” he said.Chodankar said he was motivated to take up running many years back when as a beat constable he saw Milind Soman running barefoot along a village lane in Goa at night. He stopped him and told him that he was impressed with his ability.“It was then that he told me that I too should run. Since that day I decided to take up running and it has become my passion,” he said.“Vishant is a head constable in the Goa police. He has made not only Goa proud but the Goa police which is everyday getting a bad name, he's made it proud. And I’m so glad that he's learned laurels for Goa and for the Goa police. It is a moment of pride for Aldona constituency,” Adv Carlos also said.
