CANACONA: A solo trek to hoist the Tricolour ahead of Independence Day turned dangerous for a youth from Gaondongrim after he slipped and fell into a deep ravine at Modder in Badsarem.
Rohit Kudalkar had trekked through the dense forest to reach one of the highest points in the area. While returning, he reportedly lost his footing and fell into the ravine, leaving him stranded.
After managing to get mobile network, Kudalkar alerted emergency services by calling 100. Canacona Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Forest Department personnel and local residents immediately launched a rescue operation.
Despite the difficult terrain and dense forest, rescuers managed to locate Kudalkar and bring him to safety. He reportedly escaped with no serious injuries.
