PANAJI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced a statewide outreach campaign, ‘Margay Mukti Yatra’, from November 26 to December 19, aimed at highlighting the financial struggles of Goan families and addressing the rising cost of living.
The yatra will begin on Constitution Day, November 26, and conclude on Goa Liberation Day, December 19. During this period, AAP leaders and party workers will visit different constituencies and villages, interact with residents and listen to their everyday concerns.
The campaign will primarily focus on inflation and the growing financial burden on households, with the party seeking to understand how ordinary Goans are managing their monthly expenses.
As part of the campaign, AAP will promote its ‘Amchi Goenkar Guarantee’, a package of six guarantees, five of which are aimed at reducing household expenditure and providing financial relief.
The guarantees include the abolition of Section 39A, free electricity with a waiver of pending bills, ₹10 lakh health insurance for eligible families, a monthly allowance of ₹3,000 for every woman above 18 years of age, and free bus travel for women.
AAP claims these five guarantees could help families save at least ₹15,000 every month. The party has cited electricity, healthcare and transportation costs as major expenses that its proposed measures seek to address.
The party said the yatra would go beyond political campaigning, providing people with an opportunity to share their problems, expectations and aspirations directly with its leaders.
AAP maintained that public issues, rising expenses and the financial security of ordinary families should take centre stage in the upcoming election, rather than political rhetoric alone.
Through the ‘Margay Mukti Yatra’, the party aims to strengthen its grassroots outreach and present its proposed guarantees as measures to tackle inflation and ease the economic pressure on Goan households.
