VASCO: Repair work at the fire-damaged Vasco Sunday Market will begin only after the structural stability report is received, Vasco MLA Krishna Daji Salkar has clarified.
Salkar said public safety remains the priority and the administration will assess whether the existing structure can safely accommodate around 100 vendors and 200–300 visitors at a time.
He warned that rushing into reconstruction without checking the building's structural strength could risk another tragedy.
If the report gives a green signal, repair work will begin. Otherwise, alternative arrangements will be explored to accommodate the affected traders.
Salkar assured vendors that the administration would work towards restoring their original locations and urged them not to panic.
