CM assures Yuri Alemao to celebrate Asmitai Dis

Panaji: After Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao reminded Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant about celebrating Opinion Poll day at state level, the latter assured positively on the second day of the assembly session. Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao had on 19th July 2024 moved a Private Members resolution recommending the Government to celebrate 16th January as ‘Asmitai Dis’ (Opinion Poll Day) as official State function. “During last assembly session I had withdrawn my resolution after Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had assured me to celebrate Asmitai Dis. But the government forgot its assurance and failed to celebrate Asmitai Dis. Today when I reminded the Chief Minister, he assured the house to celebrate this day at the state level in Margao and Panaji,” Alemao said. “Asmitai Dis has importance. It is our identity. Hence, we need to celebrate it at the state level. But the BJP government has failed to celebrate it. I hope there will be no need to remind the Chief Minister again,” Alemao said.
