CM Pramod Sawant Clarifies ‘Mhaje Ghar’ Scheme Meant Only for Goan Families

MARGAO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has clarified that the government’s ‘Mhaje Ghar’ scheme is exclusively aimed at regularising houses belonging to Goan residents and does not extend to migrants.Addressing beneficiaries during the distribution of house sanads, title documents, and class certificates in Salcete, Sawant said misinformation regarding the scheme had created unnecessary confusion among the public. He stressed that the initiative was introduced to provide legal ownership and security to Goan families whose homes remain unregularised.The Chief Minister noted that eligible beneficiaries can complete the regularisation process by paying a nominal fee of ₹1,000. He also announced that the distribution of house sanads in North Goa will commence within the next few days.According to Sawant, the scheme is designed to resolve long-pending property documentation issues and provide legal recognition to homeowners across the state.Nuvem MLA Aleixo Sequeira welcomed the initiative and praised the government’s efforts to address property-related concerns affecting numerous families. He encouraged eligible residents to take advantage of the scheme and secure their ownership documents.The ‘Mhaje Ghar’ scheme is expected to benefit thousands of Goan households by bringing greater clarity, legal protection, and certainty to property ownership records across Goa.
