Goa, 6 August 2026: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has strongly questioned the protest staged by BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers during the arrival convoy of AICC President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge Ji, at Dabolim Airport, terming the alleged breach of security arrangements a matter of serious concern.

Congress leaders alleged that BJYM protesters crossed barricades, entered the roadway and used loudspeakers while the convoy carrying Shri Kharge Ji was passing through the area. The Congress said such actions could have compromised the security of a protected political leader and posed a potential risk to other persons travelling with the convoy.

The GPCC has lodged a formal complaint seeking appropriate action against those responsible and has questioned why an FIR has not been registered despite the seriousness of the alleged security protocol violation.

GPCC Spokesperson Amit Palekar questioned the absence of an FIR and sought a clear explanation from the Goa Police as to how such a protest was allowed in the immediate vicinity of a high-security convoy. He said security protocols must be enforced uniformly and without political considerations, particularly when the safety of a protected person is involved.

Goa Pradesh Youth Congress President Archit Naik condemned the incident and said political differences can never justify actions that may endanger the safety of any individual. He demanded an impartial investigation and strict action against anyone found to have violated security arrangements.

Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress President Pratiksha Khalap and Seva Dal Chief Rajen Ghate were also present and extended their support to the demand for accountability and strict enforcement of security protocols.

The Congress reiterated that peaceful democratic protest is a fundamental right in a democracy. However, such rights must be exercised responsibly and cannot be used as a pretext to breach security arrangements or endanger public safety.

The GPCC called upon the Goa Police to conduct a fair and independent investigation, register appropriate cases wherever violations are established, and ensure that security protocols are strictly enforced irrespective of the political affiliation of those involved.

“Security cannot be compromised for political theatre. The law must apply equally to everyone, and any deliberate violation of security arrangements must invite appropriate action,” the Congress said.
