Sanguem, 15 August 2026: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at Chandreshwar Bhutnath Hall, Vichundrem, at 9:00 a.m., organised by the Sanguem Congress Block Committee to honour the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters.
The programme was attended by GPCC President Shri Girish Chodankar, Working President Shri M. K. Shaikh, Kushavati District President Shri Rajesh Verenkar, General Secretary (Organisation) Shri Pradip Naik, Seva Dal Chief Shri Rajendra Ghate, social worker and tribal leader Shri Satyavan Sanvlo Gaonkar, Sanguem Block President Shri Diogo Fernandes and Convener Shri Jitendra Naik.
Panch Member of Vaddem Village Panchayat Smt. Jujephena Fernandes, Kushavati District members, Mr. Juje Alphonso, Mr. Satyawan Velip, Mr. Anand Naik and Mr. Vishwanath Narvekar, along with several Congress Karyakartas, were also present.
Around 230 local residents participated in the celebration, which reflected the spirit of patriotism, unity and respect for the values of India’s freedom struggle.
The Sanguem Congress Block Committee reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the democratic and constitutional values for which generations of freedom fighters sacrificed their lives.
