Goa Cracks Down on Illegal Constructions

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has vowed to put an end to illegal constructions in Goa, following a high-power meeting to discuss the High Court's decision on the matter. From now on, any new illegal constructions will be strictly prohibited, and complaints received through the 100 number will be promptly addressed by the Talathi, Mamlatdar, and Deputy Collector.¹In a bid to tackle existing issues, the government plans to regularize irregular structures, while making it clear that illegal structures will not be legalized. This move comes after the Goa High Court mandated geo-mapping to combat illegal constructions, criticizing the state for allowing such activities to proliferate.
