Goa government has identified and canceled 6,000 fraudulent senior citizen pension accounts following a verification drive, revealed Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai. During the scrutiny, officials discovered cases where pensions were being transferred even after the beneficiary’s death, as well as instances of fake pensioners receiving benefits. The minister confirmed that the verification process is still ongoing, and efforts are being made to recover the misappropriated funds. “So far, we have recovered ₹13 crore, and the recovery process from such cases is still underway,” Phal Dessai stated.
