PANAJI: The Goa High Court has stayed the issuance of a notification relating to the estimated Scheduled Tribe (ST) population in the state, granting interim relief to the petitioner.
The court has also admitted a petition challenging the constitutional validity of the Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Act, 2025.
The High Court has directed the parties involved in the case to file their replies and rejoinders by November 19 as the legal proceedings continue.
Meanwhile, Deputy Solicitor General of India, Advocate Pravin Faldessai, said the Central Government would decide in the coming days whether to challenge the interim order passed by the High Court.
The development marks a significant step in the ongoing legal dispute over the proposed readjustment of Assembly constituencies to facilitate political reservation for Scheduled Tribes in Goa.
