PANAJI: Goa Police has transferred 26 personnel from various police stations and specialised units to the Cyber Crime Police Station as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s capacity to investigate technology-related offences.
The transfer order, issued on Monday, includes one police inspector, five police sub-inspectors and other personnel from different units across Goa.
Police Inspector Anand Narvekar, who was awaiting posting, has been assigned to the Cyber Crime Police Station along with five police sub-inspectors.
Among the officers transferred are Somshekhar Biradar from Quepem Police Station and Pratik Bhat Prabhu from Ponda Police Station. Sitaram Malik, who was serving with the Anti-Narcotics Cell, has also been posted to the cybercrime unit, along with two other sub-inspectors from the existing police setup.
The reshuffle also involves personnel from several police stations and specialised units, including the Women Police Station, Panaji Coastal Security Police Station, Crime Branch at Ribandar, Economic Offences Cell, Pink Force, Petition Cell (Vigilance) and Konkan Railway Police Station.
Additional personnel from other police stations across the state have also been reassigned to the cybercrime unit under the latest order.
The move is intended to strengthen the unit’s manpower and improve its operational capacity as cyber-related offences continue to pose challenges for law enforcement agencies. The additional personnel are expected to support investigations into crimes committed through digital platforms and other technology-based channels.
