**Goa Power Bills Set to Rise by Nearly 6% This Year, More Hikes Proposed Until 2028**

Panjim:Goa’s electricity consumers may soon face higher power bills, as the Goa Electricity Department (GED) has proposed a nearly **6% hike in tariffs for the current financial year 2025-26**. The proposal is part of a five-year business plan submitted to the **Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC)**.According to the petition, GED has recommended: - A **5.95% increase** in tariffs for FY 2025-26 - A **5.64% hike** for FY 2026-27 - A **4.88% increase** for FY 2027-28 The department, however, has proposed **no further hikes** for FY 2028-29 and 2029-30.If approved, the tariff hikes will affect all categories of consumers, including domestic households. The proposal is currently under review by the JERC. The move comes as part of GED’s broader strategy to ensure financial sustainability and improved infrastructure over the next five years, ending March 31, 2030.
