PANAJI: With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across Goa in the coming days, authorities have issued a public advisory urging residents and tourists to prioritise safety. Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane has specifically called on people to avoid visiting waterfalls and forested areas during this period. “In the interest of public safety, we are closing access to Dudhsagar and other waterfalls. People must refrain from venturing into forest areas or attempting treks until conditions are safe,” Rane said. The advisory comes amid concerns over strong currents, flash floods, and slippery terrain that could pose significant dangers to visitors. Officials have warned that remote areas such as waterfalls and trekking routes may become hazardous due to the extreme weather. Citizens are urged to follow IMD alerts and local advisories closely, and to take all necessary precautions to stay safe.
