NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant met Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav in New Delhi to seek the Centre’s support for developing a sustainable and scientifically regulated framework for sand extraction in Goa.
The discussions centred on striking a balance between meeting the state’s developmental needs and protecting the environment through a transparent and sustainable sand mining policy. Dr. Sawant described the meeting as productive and expressed gratitude to the Union Minister for his guidance and continued support towards Goa’s development.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also met BJP MP Anurag Thakur and held discussions on key issues related to Goa’s growth and future development.
During the meeting, Thakur congratulated Goa for securing the second position in the Fiscal Health Index 2026 and commended the state’s achievements in tourism, information technology, governance and fiscal management. He said Goa has emerged as a model of balanced development under Dr. Sawant’s seven years of leadership, setting new standards in economic growth and public administration.
