GPCC President Slams CM Sawant for Inaction on Mhadei Talks.

Panaji, April 29:* Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar has strongly criticized Chief Minister Pramod Sawant over his inaction on the Mhadei river dispute. Speaking to reporters, Patkar questioned why the Chief Minister has not yet arranged a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, despite Karnataka expressing readiness for discussions.Patkar further demanded to know why an all-party delegation is not being taken to address the matter at the highest level. “When Karnataka is ready to talk, what is stopping our Chief Minister from taking this issue forward?” he asked. He alleged that the BJP government is not serious about protecting Goa’s interests and accused CM Sawant of failing to unite political forces in the state for a common cause. The Mhadei issue has long been a sensitive topic in Goa, with concerns about water diversion impacting the state’s ecological balance. The GPCC has urged immediate and decisive action to safeguard Goa’s rights over the Mhadei waters.
