Panaji: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) will commemorate the historic 18th June Revolution Day by organizing a special public programme titled “Jan Kranti – Rise Up for Goa” on 18th June 2026 at 3:30 p.m. at Anantya Banquet Hall, Xim, Khorlim, Mapusa.
The programme is being organized to pay tribute to the sacrifices and courage of the freedom fighters who ignited the movement for Goa’s liberation and to reaffirm the collective responsibility of citizens in safeguarding democracy, constitutional values, and the rights of the people.
The event will draw inspiration from the spirit of the historic uprising led by Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and the countless Goans who fearlessly challenged colonial rule, making 18th June a defining milestone in Goa’s freedom struggle.
Addressing the gathering, Congress leaders will reflect on the relevance of the revolutionary spirit in present-day Goa and discuss issues concerning governance, public welfare, youth aspirations, employment, protection of natural resources, and preservation of Goa’s unique identity.
The GPCC has appealed to party functionaries, frontal organizations, elected representatives, youth, women, social activists, and citizens from across Goa to participate in large numbers and make the programme a meaningful tribute to the legacy of Goa’s freedom movement.
“Jan Kranti – Rise Up for Goa” is envisioned not merely as a commemoration of a historic event but as a call for renewed public participation, democratic engagement, and collective action for a stronger, progressive, and people-centric Goa.
