PORVORIM: Tourism Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan A. Khaunte has urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to address access difficulties and road safety concerns arising from the Atal Setu and the Porvorim six-lane elevated corridor.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, Khaunte has called for better bridge entry and exit points, traffic signals at key junctions, repairs to roads beneath the flyover and stricter traffic enforcement.
He has also sought an exit towards Porvorim near the Majestic Hotel junction to improve connectivity for local residents and reduce the need for circuitous routes.
Other proposals include expediting land acquisition near Neo Majestic Hotel to widen a traffic bottleneck, installing rumble strips and reflective strips on barricades, and deploying AI-enabled surveillance and speed-detection cameras.
Khaunte has urged the government and concerned departments to prioritise these measures to ensure safer commuting, smoother traffic movement and better connectivity for Porvorim residents.
