Mickky Pacheco Announces Return to Benaulim for 2027 Goa Assembly Elections on UGDP Ticket

BENAULIM, GOA | October 23, 2026: Former Goa Tourism Minister and former Benaulim MLA Francisco Xavier Mickky Pacheco has announced his decision to contest the 2027 Goa Legislative Assembly elections from Benaulim constituency on a United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP) ticket.

In a press statement issued on Friday, Pacheco said Benaulim was where his political journey began and expressed his determination to return to the constituency to serve its people with renewed commitment.

Pacheco, who has been elected MLA from Benaulim three times, said the trust and support extended by voters remained one of the greatest honours of his public life. He added that his decision followed encouragement and requests from residents who wanted him to contest from the constituency again.

Pacheco Raises Concerns Over Benaulim's Development

Reflecting on his political journey, Pacheco said that after shifting his political focus to Nuvem constituency, he continued to follow the aspirations and concerns of Benaulim residents.

He expressed the view that the constituency had not witnessed the level of development, attention and positive change that people had expected. He said residents deserved effective representation, accessible leadership and a stronger voice in addressing local issues.

Pacheco said his decision to return to Benaulim was not merely about contesting an election but about renewing his relationship with the people who had elected him in the past.

Infrastructure, Employment and Local Identity Among Priorities

Outlining his priorities for Benaulim, Pacheco said he would focus on strengthening local infrastructure, improving roads and civic amenities, creating employment and livelihood opportunities, and protecting the interests of local residents.

He also stressed the need for responsible development while preserving Benaulim's identity, community values, environment and heritage.

Pacheco said public service should be measured by the difference it makes in the lives of ordinary people rather than by political promises or slogans.

Confident of a Stronger Victory Margin

Expressing confidence ahead of the 2027 elections, Pacheco said he expected voters to assess his candidature based on his past record, experience, accessibility and commitment to public welfare.

He also expressed confidence that, with the continued support of the electorate, he could secure a larger victory margin than in his previous elections.

In his statement, Pacheco called on residents of Benaulim, irrespective of their community, religion or political affiliation, to support his candidature.

He further urged voters to choose their representatives based on their conduct, accountability and ability to serve the public interest.

UGDP Candidate for Benaulim

Pacheco's announcement positions him for a fresh electoral contest in Benaulim under the UGDP banner, the party he says marked the beginning of his political career.

With the 2027 Goa Assembly elections approaching, his return to Benaulim could become an important development in the constituency's political landscape.

Pacheco concluded by reiterating his commitment to the constituency, stating that Benaulim was where his political journey began and where he now seeks the people's mandate to serve once again.
