In a bold move, the North Goa Rent a Cab Association met with the Deputy Director and submitted a memorandum, demanding the withdrawal of a notice issued on February 20. The notice, which sparked widespread outrage, stated that rent-a-car services should not be rented at airports or railway stations.¹Association President Ramdas Palkar argued that the notice is “illegal” and contradicts existing rules, which grant rent-a-car associations the right to rent vehicles anywhere in the state. The association has given the department an ultimatum of 8 days to withdraw the notice, warning of consequences, including potential law and order situations, if their demands are not met. This development highlights the ongoing tensions between rent-a-car associations and authorities in Goa. The association’s defiant stance has sparked concerns about the impact on tourism and the livelihoods of those dependent on the rent-a-car industry. As the situation unfolds, one thing is clear: the North Goa Rent a Cab Association will not back down without a fight.
