Panaji:Senior BJP MLA Nilesh Cabral has made it clear that all decisions regarding candidature and party tickets for the upcoming elections will be taken by the BJP leadership and not at an individual level.
Speaking to reporters, Cabral spoke openly about party discipline, the upcoming elections and ongoing discussions over candidature.
Party Decision Is Final; Party Discipline Must Be Followed
Speaking about the issue of candidature, MLA Cabral said, “A party ticket is not given based on an individual's personal wishes. The BJP has a set discipline and procedure. The party's core committee, state president Damu Naik and senior leaders will decide who should be given which responsibility and who should receive the party ticket.”
Elections Are Still Some Time Away; No Point in Unnecessary Speculation
Responding to questions about the upcoming 2027 Assembly elections, Cabral said, “There are still around six months left for the elections, which are expected around February-March. There is no point in discussing so early who will win, who will lose or who will get the ticket. Everything will become clear at the appropriate time.”
Already Stepped Down from Several Posts for the Party
When asked about stepping down from positions or withdrawing from responsibilities, Cabral said, “I have already stepped down from several important positions, including the ministerial post, in the interest of the party. Therefore, there is no question of stepping down or backing out again.”
Expressing confidence that his work in his constituency would help him secure the people's support, Cabral said it would be appropriate to leave the final decision on the party ticket to the BJP state president and the core committee.
