Section 144 Imposed Around Panaji’s Junta House Ahead of Taxi Owners’ Protest on June 2

Panjim:The District Collector of North Goa has issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC, restricting public gatherings and related activities in and around Junta House, Panaji, and nearby areas under the jurisdiction of the Panaji Police Station, effective June 2, 2025.
According to the official directive, the following activities have been strictly prohibited:
Assembly of five or more persons
Processions, protests, or morchas
Carrying of arms, sticks, banners, placards, loudspeakers, or any article that could potentially be used for unlawful assembly
This step has been taken as a precautionary measure to maintain public order and ensure peace in the area. The authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with the enforcement agencies and refrain from any form of gathering that may disrupt public peace.
Law enforcement officials will be deployed in the area to monitor compliance with the order. Violators may face legal action as per the provisions of the law.
