MARGAO: The South Goa Advocates Association has urged the Directorate of Settlement and Land Records to introduce time-bound procedures to address delays in land survey applications across the district.
In a memorandum, the Association has demanded that notices be issued to respondents within 14 days of applications for partition, amalgamation and demarcation.
Association president Antonio Clovis Da Costa said delays at the initial stage often hold up proceedings and cause inconvenience to applicants.
The Association has also proposed special camps to clear pending cases, uniform procedures across offices and an online tracking system for applicants and advocates. It has further called for electronic communication of notices and case updates wherever legally permitted.
Highlighting difficulties faced at ISLR and City Survey offices in Margao, Canacona, Vasco, Quepem and Sanguem, the Association has sought a departmental inquiry into prolonged pendency, particularly partition and amalgamation cases in Margao.
It has also demanded action against officials found responsible for avoidable delays, stressing the need for transparency, accountability and faster delivery of land survey services.
