MARGAO: South Goa District Collector and District Election Officer Egna Cleetus chaired a meeting with representatives of recognised political parties to review polling station rationalisation proposals under the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of the Photo Electoral Roll, with January 1, 2027, as the qualifying date.
The proposals submitted by Electoral Registration Officers for Ponda, Mormugao, Dabolim, Margao and Benaulim were discussed and accepted during the meeting.
The exercise aims to improve voter accessibility, make polling stations more convenient for citizens and ensure efficient election management. Political party representatives were also invited to share their suggestions and views.
Cleetus stressed that the rationalisation process must strictly follow Election Commission of India guidelines, with voter convenience remaining a key priority.
The exercise is part of the preparations for the upcoming electoral roll revision.
