Tourism Minister Khaunte Reaffirms Visitor Safety at Tourist Places.

Porvorim, 4th August 2025* – Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte reaffirmed the Department of Tourism’s commitment to improving beach infrastructure and ensuring visitor safety at the ongoing session of the Goa Legislative Assembly held today.The Minister was responding to Cortalim MLA Shri Antonio Vaz during Zero Hour regarding Velsao Beach, he clarified that critical infrastructure has already been put in place. “A team of 15 trained lifeguards has been deployed at Velsao Beach to ensure safety for both locals and tourists. Additionally, high-mast lighting has been installed and the system has been handed over to the Electricity Department for seamless operation,” Shri Khaunte informed the House.The Minister also acknowledged that local fishermen require proper canoe parking and the need for toilet facilities. The Minister assured that an inspection would be conducted along with the local MLA to assess the situation on ground and determine the necessary interventions.The response underscores the Tourism Department’s proactive approach in collaborating with local representatives and stakeholders to strengthen Goa’s beach infrastructure.
