Margao: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated advanced diagnostic and specialised healthcare facilities at South Goa District Hospital in Margao, aimed at improving access to quality healthcare for people across the region.
The inauguration was held in the presence of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, PWD Minister and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, MLA Ulhas Tuyekar and other dignitaries.
The newly inaugurated facilities include a Treadmill Test (TMT) Room, cardiology services and an MRI facility, strengthening the hospital's diagnostic capabilities and specialised medical services.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the expansion would improve access to advanced diagnostic services and quality healthcare for the people of South Goa.
He also highlighted the government's efforts to strengthen Goa's healthcare ecosystem through the expansion of specialist medical services, nursing education and plans for an ESI Medical College.
The initiatives are part of the state's broader vision of Viksit Goa 2037 and Viksit Bharat 2047, with a focus on improving healthcare infrastructure and making advanced medical facilities more accessible to the public.
The expansion of facilities at South Goa District Hospital is expected to strengthen its role in providing specialised healthcare services and reduce the need for patients to travel elsewhere for certain diagnostic procedures.
Advanced facilities, accessible healthcare and a healthier Goa remain key priorities in the state's efforts to strengthen its public healthcare system.
