Aldona, 8 August 2026: St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona, in collaboration with Loving Hearts Goa Foundation and the dedicated medical team from the North Goa District Hospital Blood Bank (Asilo), successfully organised a Blood Donation Camp on Saturday, 8 August 2026, on the school campus.
The initiative was organised with the objective of promoting voluntary blood donation and creating awareness about the importance of donating blood as a noble and lifesaving service to humanity.
The camp was inaugurated in the presence of the School Management, Principal, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff, School PTA Executive Members, parents and family members, alumni, representatives of local bodies, members of Loving Hearts Goa Foundation and the medical team from North Goa District Hospital Blood Bank.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from teachers, parents, ex-students, well-wishers and members of the local community. The medical team conducted the required health screening of all prospective donors and ensured that the entire donation process was carried out safely and efficiently, adhering to prescribed medical protocols.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Mrs. Angelica Fernandes expressed her sincere gratitude to Loving Hearts Goa Foundation, particularly its President Mr. Mark D’Souza, Secretary Mr. Gabriel John Pereira, and Coordinator-in-Charge Mr. Daryl John Abranches, for partnering with the school in this meaningful humanitarian initiative. She also appreciated the efforts of the doctors and medical staff of the North Goa District Hospital Blood Bank (Asilo) for their professional support.
The Principal commended the selfless contribution of every donor and highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation. She emphasised that a single unit of donated blood can potentially help save up to three lives, making every donation a valuable contribution towards the wellbeing of society.
The organisers also expressed their appreciation to Manager Rev. Fr. Roxy Fernandes, MSFS, staff volunteers Ms. Venezia Paes and Ms. Hyacintha Lobo, student volunteers, donors and supporters for their wholehearted cooperation. Special appreciation was extended to the School Social Media Team, under Mr.Amarnath Panjikar, for their support in promoting and documenting the initiative.
A total of 32 donors participated in the Blood Donation Camp, including 10 members of the teaching and non-teaching staff of St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona. Their enthusiastic response reflected the strong spirit of compassion, service and social responsibility within the school community.
The successful organisation of the camp reaffirmed the commitment of St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona, towards nurturing not only academic excellence but also values of compassion, empathy, social responsibility and community service among its students and the wider community.
