Opposition MLAs have questioned the decision to hold the Goa Assembly session for just three days, arguing that the limited time will not be enough to address major issues facing the state.
Section 39A, land preservation, carrying capacity, roads, unemployment, unplanned development, power cuts, Mahadayi, water supply and environmental concerns were among the issues the Opposition wants discussed.
Viresh Borkar demanded adequate time for a detailed debate on Section 39A, while Vijai Sardesai highlighted roads, unemployment and unplanned development. Venzy Viegas raised concerns over power cuts, Mahadayi, E20 petrol, water supply and land-related matters.
Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao described the BAC meeting as a “mere ritual and formality” and accused the government of restricting legislative discussion.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, meanwhile, said around 13 Bills will be introduced during the session.
